Indies from the Ist Test against India in Bangalore, 1974, till the 5th
Test against Australia in Sydney, 1984-85, a total of 74 Tests of which
36 were won.
Known for introducing the four-man pace attack which
became a trademark of West Indies teams for most of the 80s and 90s.
Under him
the West Indies began their domination of world cricket, never losing a
Test series from 1980-81 till he gave up the captaincy; this record
continued till the series against Australia in 1995.
Lloyd had a run of
11 wins on the trot from 1983 to 1984-85. Curiously, both his last Test
and last one-dayer ended in defeats. He now lives in England and was
formerly
manager of the West Indies team.
